This metal roof covered the paint & body shop at one of the largest automobile dealerships in the area. Not only were there several leaks in the building, the heat during the summer months made life tough for the employees at the facility. The owners came to Kiker Corporation in Mobile, AL looking for a solution to both issues.
Kiker presented the American WeatherStar Acrylic 211 roof coating system as an alternative to a complete tear-off and replacement.
To help offset heat in the building the scope of work included taking out the skylights prior to installing the AWS coating system. New metal was set in place of the skylights before aggressively power-washing the metal panels to remove dirt and flaking rust.
AWS Rust Prime 960 was sprayed over the entire surface at a coverage rate of one gallon per 100 square feet. Kiker Corporation proceeded to address all seams, penetrations and fasteners with the AWS Butyl Rubber 320 (Brush Grade) material to ensure the roof was completely water-tight.
To complete the project, two coats of AWS Acrylic 211 were installed to give the owner a 20 mil, bright white coating system with a ten year warranty covering leaks in the system.
